Sue Lawson is passionate about encouraging young people to develop a love for reading and writing. She grew up on a farm in Western Victoria listening to her grandfather and father tell stories.
Her books such as Ferret Boy and Tessa have featured on the Children’s Book Council’s Notable Book list and Allie McGregor’s True Colours won the Australian Family Therapists Children’s Literature Award for Older Readers in 2007. Young adult novel Pan’s Whisper was nominated for the 2012 Prime Minister Award, and won the 2012 Australian Family Therapists Award for Children’s Literature.
Sue’s skills and warm personality combine to create a safe, fun and inspirational atmosphere. She talks about her experiences as a writer, tells the stories behind her books and encourages students to follow their dreams.
Sue’s workshops are fast-paced, interactive and funny. Topics include generating ideas, planning beginnings, characters, dialogue, editing and more.
“Before Sue’s lesson, I didn’t really like writing but now I want to do it more and more.”
